Our History

Here we will tell the story of the beginnings of our church and how we became what we are today.

Older members may not have realized it but, they were a great source of keeping up with the history of the St. Paul. Baptist Church. Their testimony has been recorded. This enabled me to bring these facts about the St. Paul B. C . to you today. St. Paul sat beside the levy on Pittsfield Plantation and then it was moved around the levy and across the highway on Pittsfield Plantation in Concordia Parish, LA

On March 16, 1970, the church was destroyed by fire. At this time, the entire church body was in search of a new Church home, meanwhile we found refuge and spiritual strength in Zion Hill B.C. on the Clayton Highway. Deacons, Thomas Brown, Zollie Polk, Tom Butcher and Willie Bowman Jr, began to look for land, to build our new Church. Land was purchased in Lancaster's
Addition which is known as Montgomery Street. Ground breaking ceremony was on the first Sunday in May, 1970. The New Church was planned and built by Deacon Willie Bowman Jr.
He also later built the pews for the Church . It was completed and occupied the first Sunday in October . The date was October 3, 1970.

With each challenge we have encountered, we became stronger in our faith. We may provide links to other sites that provide more detail on our church history or particular events in our past.

We invite you to become a part of the church today and a piece of its history tomorrow.
